SACCI announces the appointment of Chose Choeu as President PDF Print E-mail

It is with pride and pleasure that the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry announces that Mr Chose Choeu has assumed the presidency of SACCI following the resignation of Mr Babu Baijoo.  Mr Choeu has a long and illustrious connection with SACCI having been appointed to the Board in 2006.  He also serves as the Chairperson of the SACCI ICT Expert Committee. 

He is currently Managing Director of Corporate Affairs at Eskom. Prior to this he was Director of Legal and Corporate Affairs at Microsoft which he joined in 2003 from Telkom SA where he spent five years as Executive of Regulatory and Government Affairs. Microsoft, Eskom and Telkom are all members of SACCI. Prior to joining Telkom, Mr. Choeu spent four years in senior positions with the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa, which he joined after sixteen years in the teaching profession.

Chose Choeu, a Fulbright Scholar, has numerous degrees including a Masters Degree in International Relations (University of Denver) and a Masters Degree in South African Political Economy (University of Port Elizabeth). He also studied at the Graduate School of Business of the University of the Witwatersrand and the Graduate Institute of Management & Technology. In 1996 he won the British Council Chevening Leadership Award and as a result studied Parliamentary Administration at the Public Administration Institute and at the Royal Institute of Administration both situated in London. As part of the Chevening Leadership Award he was seconded to the British Parliament. He is also a Certified Director of the Institute of Directors.

Chose Choeu serves as member of the following organisations:

  • President of the Information Technology Association of South Africa.
  • Board Member of the American Chamber of Commerce and chairperson of the chamber’s ICT Committee.
  • Chairperson of the Audit Committee of the South African Parliament.
  • Chairperson of the Free State Development Corporation.
  • Chairperson of the ICT Committee of the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
  • Member of the Board of the Centre for Policy Studies
  • Member of the Black Management Forum.
  • Member of the Black Information Technology Forum.
  • Member of the Institute of Directors.
  • Former Chairperson of the Universal Service and Access Agency.
