It is with pleasure that the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SACCI) announces that its President, Mr Chose Choeu, has been elected Chairperson of the International Chambers of Commerce – South Africa (ICCSA). Mr Pat Corbin has been elected Director and SACCI has been re-appointed to the role of Secretariat to the ICCSA. The South African affiliate of the International Chambers plays a crucial role in terms of South Africa’s participation in global trade. It provides South Africa with access to negotiations on international trade and business and in the setting of international trade and business standards. Under the leadership of Mr Choeu, it is anticipated that the ICCSA will grow and extend its influence both domestically and internationally. Prior to being appointed President of SACCI, Mr Choeu had a long and illustrious connection with SACCI having been appointed to the Board in 2006. He is currently also Managing Director of Corporate Affairs at Eskom. Prior to this he was Director of Legal and Corporate Affairs at Microsoft which he joined in 2003 from Telkom SA where he spent five years as Executive of Regulatory and Government Affairs. Microsoft, Eskom and Telkom are all members of SACCI. Prior to joining Telkom, Mr. Choeu spent four years in senior positions with the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa, which he joined after sixteen years in the teaching profession. Chose Choeu, a Fulbright Scholar, has numerous degrees including a Masters Degree in International Relations (University of Denver) and a Masters Degree in South African Political Economy (University of Port Elizabeth). Mr Choeu serves in leadership and governance roles in many organisations including that of: SACCI congratulates Mr Choeu on his presidency and looks forward to a long and productive relationship with him. |
