SACCI is supported by Standing Committees and Working Groups, which address areas of particular interest to its members. Some of the most knowledgeable people in their respective fields sit on these committees. Their function is to examine and deliberate on these matters, and then to formulate recommendations to the appropriate authorities. The committees and working groups are active in the broad areas of labour affairs, economic policy and legal affairs. A changing environment compels attention to various specific topics in these areas.
SACCI utilises its monthly newsletter and the internet to communicate effectively with its various constituencies on topics of importance to business.
The close links that are maintained with these external bodies, broaden SACCI’s representative position still further. Its liaison with the International Chamber of Commerce and Industry provides a gateway to the international organised business community, helping members to keep pace with developments in business world-wide.
SACCI is also a member of Business Unity South Africa (BUSA), a loose confederation of business and employer organisations, and CHAMSA, the proposed unified chamber body consisting of SACCI, NAFCOC, AHI and FABCOS.
